Glory be to Jesus Christ!

The Apostle Paul writes about eating different foods, just as in other places, and then gives instructions to the bishops and clergy. In those days, books were scarce and there was less opportunity for learning, so Paul advises that first and foremost, they should practice godliness, that is, good deeds. He does not neglect the bodily, but encourages greater and more constant diligence towards the soul and God. It is not always possible to physically develop the body, but it is always possible to exercise oneself in spiritual development and life in God.

To the righteous Philaretos the Merciful:
The reading from the Apostle is very eloquent and figurative. Love is called the union of perfection
because it should unite all the virtues in itself. A certain ideal of Christian life is described, a good example of which is also the righteous Philaretos the Merciful.
