Ephesians I, 1, 3 — ‘ἐν Ἐφέσῳ’ - ‘en Epheso’ - ‘in Ephesus’. These words are not found in some manuscripts. ‘ἐν Χριστῷ’ - ‘en CHristo’ - ‘in Christ’.
Ephesians I, 2 — ‘ἀπὸ θεοῦ’ - ‘apo theou’ - ‘from God’. As I wrote earlier, the preposition ‘apo’ in this usage emphasises that grace and peace are gifts from God.
Ephesians I, 3 — ‘ἐν πάσῃ εὐλογίᾳ’ - ‘en pase eulogia’ - ‘in every blessing; with every blessing’. ‘ἐν τοῖς ἐπουρανίοις’ - ‘en tois epouraniois’ - ‘in the heavens’. Literally, ‘in the on-heavens’. Here the prefix emphasises that this blessing refers to Christ Himself, who ascended to the heavens, i.e. it is He Who is in the heavens and through Him the blessing is given.
Ephesians I, 4, 9 — ‘ἐν αὐτῷ’ - ‘en auto’ - ‘in Him; in Himself’. ‘ἐν ἀγάπῃ’ - ‘en agape’ - ‘in love; by love’. The second variant is also possible, although the first is more likely.
Ephesians I, 5 — ‘εἰς υἱοθεσίαν’ - ‘eis yiothesian’ - ‘in the adoption of God's children; for adoption as God's children’. These words are very capacious. ‘εἰς αὐτόν’ - ‘eis auton’ - ‘in Himself’. This may indicate that God gives people Himself and thus makes them children of God.
Ephesians I, 6 — ‘εἰς ἔπαινον’ - ‘eis epainon’ - ‘in praise; for praise’. ‘ἐν τῷ ἠγαπημένῳ’ - ‘en to egapemeno’ - ‘in the Beloved’.
Ephesians I, 7 — ‘ἐν ᾧ’ - ‘en o’ - ‘in Whom’.
Ephesians I, 8 — ‘εἰς ἡμᾶς’ - ‘eis hemas’ - ‘in us’. ‘ἐν πάσῃ’ - ‘en pase’ - ‘in every; with every’. Both translations are possible.

Luke IX, 7, 8 — ‘ὑπό τινων’ - ‘hypo tinon’ - ‘under some; through some’. The preposition ‘hypo’ here is with the genitive case, indicating that this is a personal opinion of those people. ‘ἐκ νεκρῶν’ - ‘ek nekron’ - ‘from the dead’. The preposition indicates that this is an answer to the question ‘from whence?’.
Luke IX, 10 — ‘εἰς πόλιν’ - ‘eis polin’ - ‘into the city’.
