To the prophet Elijah:
(James V, 10-20; Luke IV, 22-30)
James V, 12 — ‘ὑπὸ κρίσιν’ - ‘(h)ypo krisin’ - ‘under judgement’.

James V, 17 — ‘ἡμῖν’ - ‘emin’ - ‘to us’ (us).

James V, 19 — ‘ἀπὸ τῆς ἀληθείας’ - ‘apo tes aletheias’ - ‘from the truth’ (emphasising distance and apartness).

James V, 20 — ‘ἐκ πλάνης’ - ‘ek plages’ - ‘from wandering’. ‘ἐκ θανάτου’ - ‘ek thanatou’ - ‘from death’. The 'exit' from wandering and death is emphasised.

Luke IV, 22 — ‘ἐκ τοῦ στόματος’ - ‘ek tou stomatos’ - ‘out of the mouth’.

Luke IV, 23, 24 — ‘εἰς τὴν Καφαρναοὺμ’ - ‘eis ten Kapharnaoum’ - ‘in Capernaum’. Here ‘eis’ indicates a location in the context of the spread of hearsay. Hearing about the miracles of Jesus was spread in different places, so the ‘mobile in is used.’ ἐν τῇ πατρίδι - ‘en te patridi’ - ‘in the homeland’. Here, in fact, is the location of the people who addressed Jesus.

Luke IV, 25 — ‘ἡμέραις’ - ‘emerais’ - ‘to the days’ (days).

Luke IV, 26 — ‘εἰς Σάρεπτα’ - ‘eis Sarepta’ - ‘into Sarepta’.

(Romanians VI, 11-17)
Romans VI, 12 — ‘εἰς τὸ ὑπακούειν’ - ‘eis to hypakouein’ - ‘to obey’.

Romans VI, 13 — ‘ἐκ νεκρῶν ζῶντας’ - ‘ek nekron zontas’ - ‘as raised from the dead’. A parallel to the Resurrection of Christ.

Romans VI, 14, 15 — ‘ὑπὸ νόμον ἀλλὰ ὑπὸ χάριν’ - ‘(h)ypo nomon alla (h)ypo kharin’ - (not) ‘under the law, but under grace’.

Romans VI, 16 — ‘εἰς ὑπακοήν’ - ‘eis hypakoen’ - ‘in (for) obedience’. The preposition ‘eis’ emphasises the ‘gradual manifestation of obedience’ - a person gradually, moving, gives themselves in obedience, and not necessarily immediately and completely. This is a very important statement in relation to the development of the spiritual life and also to various sinful addictions and sinful passions. ‘εἰς θάνατον’ - ‘eis thanaton’ - ‘into death’. ‘εἰς δικαιοσύνην’ - ‘eis dikaiosynen’ - ‘into righteousness’. Here, in both cases, the preposition ‘eis’ emphasises movement and the final destination of the movement.

Romans VI, 17 — ‘ἐκ καρδίας’ - ‘ek kardias’ - ‘from the heart’. ‘εἰς ὃν παρεδόθητε τύπον διδαχῆς’ - ‘eis on paredothete typon didakhes’ - ‘what type of doctrine they have been given’. The use of the pair of prepositions ‘ek’-‘eis’ indicates a movement from - to. First there was a heart decision, and then growth and improvement in Christian doctrine, godliness, faith, life, etc.

Matthew VIII, 14 — ‘εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν’ - ‘eis ten oikian’ - ‘into the house’.

Matthew VIII, 17 — ‘ἡμῶν’ - ‘emon’ - ‘us’ (our).

Matthew VIII, 23 — ‘εἰς τὸ πλοῖον’ - ‘eis to ploion’ - ‘into the boat’.
