(1 Corinthians XII, 12-26)
1 Corinthians XII, 13 — ‘ἐν ἑνὶ πνεύματι ἡμεῖς πάντες εἰς ἓν σῶμα’ - ‘en eni pneumati emeis pantes eis en soma’ - ‘by one Spirit we all into one body’. The preposition ‘en’ indicates an actual state, and the preposition ‘eis’ indicates a movement towards one body. The unity of the Holy Spirit is a prerequisite for the unity of the Church, the Body of Christ. We can also say that the recognition of the gifts of the Holy Spirit contributes to the unity of the Church. ‘ἓν πνεῦμα’ - ‘en pneuma’ - ‘in the Spirit’. There are two different cases in the verse.

1 Corinthians XII, 15, 16 — ‘ἐκ τοῦ σώματος’ - ‘ek tou somatos’ - ‘from the body’. The preposition ‘ek’ indicates origin. ‘παρὰ τοῦτο’ - ‘para touto’ - ‘because of this’. The preposition ‘para’ is here with the accusative.

1 Corinthians XII, 18, 25 — ‘ἐν τῷ σώματι’ - ‘en to somati’ - ‘in the body’.

1 Corinthians XII, 23, 24 — ‘ἡμῶν’ - ‘emon’ - ‘us’ (our).

(Matthew XVIII, 18-22; XIX, 1-2, 13-15)
Matthew XVIII, 18 — ‘ἐν οὐρανῷ’ - ‘en ourano’ - ‘in the heaven: by the heaven’. Rather, the former, because the latter ‘adds’ to the heaven the function of ‘binding’.

Matthew XVIII, 19 — ‘ἐξ ὑμῶν’ - ‘ex ymon’ - ‘of you’. The preposition ‘ex’ (the form of ‘ek’ before the next vowel) indicates where these two are from. ‘παρὰ τοῦ πατρός’ - ‘para tou patros’ - ‘from the Father’. The phrase is the same as about the Holy Spirit, so it implies that this will also come from the Holy Spirit and therefore also from the Son. At the same time, it emphasises that this requires asking in the Holy Spirit. ‘ἐν οὐρανοῖς’ - ‘en ouranois’ - ‘in the heavens’. It is plural, indicating that the Father can answer prayers in a very generous way.

Matthew XVIII, 20 — ‘εἰς τὸ ἐμὸν ὄνομα’ - ‘eis to emon onoma’ - ‘in My name’. Here the preposition ‘eis’ means that they were gathered ‘for Christ by His will’. ‘ἐν μέσῳ’ - ‘en meso’ - ‘among’. A common expression.

Matthew XVIII, 21 — ‘ἁμαρτήσει εἰς ἐμὲ’ - ‘amartesei eis eme’ - ‘to sin in (against) me’. Here the preposition ‘eis’ means ‘against’, or it can also be understood as ‘in (relations with)’.

Matthew XIX, 1 — ‘ἀπὸ τῆς Γαλιλαίας’ - ‘apo tes Galilaias’ - ‘from Galilee’. The preposition ‘apo’ indicates that Jesus left Galilee. ‘εἰς τὰ ὅρια τῆς Ἰουδαίας’ - ‘eis ta oria tes Ioudaias’ - ‘in the land of Judea’.
