1 Corinthians XV, 41, 43 — ‘ἐν δόξῃ’ - ‘en doxe’ - ‘in glory; by glory’. Both translations are possible, but since there is a opposition here, where only the option in
is possible, the first one has the advantage in terms of meaning. This is clearly seen in verse 43.
1 Corinthians XV, 42 — ‘ἐν φθορᾷ’ - ‘en phthora’ - ‘in corruption’. This is the only translation that makes sense. ‘ἐν ἀφθαρσίᾳ’ - ‘en aphtharsia’ - ‘in incorruption’.
1 Corinthians XV, 43 — ‘ἐν ἀτιμίᾳ’ - ‘en atimia’ - ‘in dishonour’ (i.e. in the state without honour). ‘ἐν ἀσθενείᾳ’ - ‘en astheneia’ - ‘in weakness; in powerlessness’. ‘ἐν δυνάμει’ - ‘en dynamei’ - ‘in strength; in power'.
1 Corinthians XV, 45 — ‘εἰς ψυχὴν ζῶσαν’ - ‘eis psykhen zosan’ - ‘into the living soul’. ‘εἰς πνεῦμα ζῳοποιοῦν’ - ‘eis pneuma zoopoioun’ - ‘into the life-giving Spirit’. The preposition ‘eis’ emphasises the movement into the named reality. ‘Became into the soul’ - that is, the body was so animated by the soul that it enters the soul while being a body
. Likewise, ‘becoming into the Spirit’ means that the body is so animated and filled with the Holy Spirit that it becomes like Him, and the grace of life is given through it, which is why it is called ‘life-giving’. Of course, the Holy Spirit gives grace, and He also animates the body, creates life, but the body also ‘transmits’ the grace it receives, becoming like the Spirit. The human spirit is also directly involved in this, since the spiritualisation and animation of the body takes place through it, so we can think that the body becomes like the human spirit. Just as the Resurrected Jesus passed through closed doors, so the resurrected bodies in glory are like the spirit.
