To the Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon:
(2 Timothy II, 1-10; John XV, 17 — XVI, 2)

(Romanians VIII, 14-21)
Romans VIII, 18 — ‘εἰς ἡμᾶς’ - ‘eis emas’ - ‘ in us’.

Romans VIII, 21 — ‘ἀπὸ τῆς δουλίας τῆς φθορᾶς εἰς τὴν ἐλευθερίαν’ - ‘apo tes doulias tes phthoros eis ten eleutherian’ - ‘from the slavery of corruption into (to) the freedom’. The expression is very eloquent. The preposition ‘apo’ emphasises complete deliverance, hence incorruption, and the preposition ‘eis’ indicates the final destination, the goal.

(Matthew IX, 9-13)
Matthew IX, 10 — ‘ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ’ - ‘en te oikia’ - ‘in the house’.

Matthew IX, 12 — ‘ἰσχύοντες’ - ‘iskhyontes’ - ‘strong, mighty, able’. The emphasis is on the sinful weakness of a person, but at the same time it means that such people, of whom Christ speaks, want deliverance from sin, purification, change of life, and so on. In Matthew's case, it means that he was looking for a different life than he had had before, which is why he responded quickly and decisively to Jesus' call.
