1 Corinthians XV, 58 — ‘ἐν τῷ ἔργῳ’ - ‘en to ergo’ - ‘in work; by work’. Both translations are possible. ‘ἐν κυρίῳ’ - ‘en kyrio’ - ‘in the Lord’.
1 Corinthians XVI, 1 — ‘εἰς τοὺς ἁγίους’ - ‘eis tous agious’ - ‘for the saints’. Here the preposition ‘eis’ indicates the direction of action.
1 Corinthians XVI, 2 — ‘παρ’ ἑαυτῷ' - par eauto
- in the vicinity of oneself; near oneself
. The preposition ‘para’ in its form before the following vowel is here with the dative case and means ‘near’.
1 Corinthians XVI, 3 — ‘εἰς Ἱερουσαλήμ’ - ‘eis Ierousalem’ - ‘to Jerusalem’.

Luke IX, 3 — ‘εἰς τὴν ὁδόν’ - ‘eis ten odon’ - ‘for the journey'.
Luke IX, 4 — ‘εἰς ἣν ἂν οἰκίαν’ - ‘eis en an oikian’ - ‘into whatever house’.
Luke IX, 5 — ‘ἀπὸ τῆς πόλεως’ - ‘apo tes poleos’ - ‘from the city’. ‘ἀπὸ τῶν ποδῶν’ - ‘apo ton podon’ - ‘from the feet’. The preposition ‘apo’ here means the complete abandonment of the city and the shaking off of all the dust. ‘εἰς μαρτύριον’ - ‘eis martyrion’ - ‘in testimony; for testimony’. The preposition ‘eis’ indicates the purpose here.
