1 Corinthians XVI, 2 – every first day of the week
– that is, every
Sunday (according to the Jewish calendar). Sunday is the day of the
Lord, when the New Testament Church especially honoured the Lord, first
of all through the common celebration of the Eucharist during the
Liturgy (compare Acts XX, 7). It must be said that the text contains a
complex linguistic construction, but it has this meaning.
The Apostle Paul teaches us to care for our neighbours, especially our brothers and sisters in Christ, and to make certain kinds of care weekly (or, more generally, periodic, but at the same time permanent) in order not to complicate these matters, to make them simple.
