(Romans II, 10-16)
Romans II:12 — 'ἥμαρτον' - 'emarton' - 'sinned' - from 'ἁμαρτάνω' - 'amartano'

Romans II, 13 — 'παρὰ τῷ θεῷ' - 'para to theo' - ''beside God; in the presence of God''. Here the dative case and the meaning of the phrase are in a kind of comparison. It could be translated in comparison with what God wants, what God intended, what God called us to do. For if something is put next to something else and it is said that the former is not the same as the latter, then this is clearly a comparison of the former with the latter. And since it makes no real sense to compare human righteousness with God's righteousness, the comparison is not with God Himself in His righteousness, but with the measure, form, and content of righteousness that God intended for people, with God's plan for people's righteousness, for people's lives. The comparison with the law-workers a little further on in the verse is also more obvious.

Romans II:16 — 'ἡμέρᾳ' - 'emera' - 'day'.
