it is written that the use of prepositions is important for the correct understanding of important and actual issues, in particular the issue of power, I am writing commentaries on the use of these prepositions. As a piece of advice on how to read the text, you can read the verse in translation and/or in the original (if you have the opportunity), and then the commentary on prepositions here. Next, you need to understand which part of the verse the commentary refers to, and consider what it affirms — or less often, denies — that is essential to understanding. This thoughtful reading helps to deepen understanding and protects against the mistakes mentioned above.

(Luke XIV, 1-11)
Luke XIV, 1 — ‘ἐν τῷ ἐλθεῖν αὐτὸν εἰς οἶκόν’ - ‘en to elthein auton eis oikon’ - ‘as He entered the house’.

Luke XIV, 5 — ‘εἰς φρέαρ’ - ‘eis phrear’ - ‘into the well; into the abyss’. ‘ἐν ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ σαββάτου’ - ‘en hemera tou sabbatou’ - ‘on the Sabbath day; on the Sabbath; on the day of rest’. Generally speaking, all translations are possible.

Luke XIV, 8 — ‘κληθῇς ὑπό τινος εἰς γάμους’ - ‘klethes hypo tinos eis gamous’ - ‘(if) you are invited to someone's wedding’. The preposition ‘hypo’ here is with the genitive case, and indicates the passive voice of the verb. ‘εἰς τὴν πρωτοκλισίαν’ - ‘eis ten protoklisian’ - ‘in the first place’. This refers to the main place at a wedding or banquet. ‘κεκλημένος ὑπ’ αὐτοῦ' - keklemenos hyp autou - will be invited by him. Just like the previous one, it indicates the passive voice of the verb.

Luke XIV, 10 — ‘εἰς τὸν ἔσχατον τόπον’ - ‘eis ton eskhaton topon’ - ‘in the last place’.
