(1 Corinthians X, 28 — XI, 7; 1 Corinthians XI, 8-22)
1 Corinthians X, 29 — ‘ὑπὸ ἄλλης συνειδήσεως’ - ‘hypo alles syneideseos’ - ‘because of another conscience’. Here the preposition ‘hypo’ is used with the genitive case, emphasising that it refers to judgement that is carried out by the conscience of another person. The apostle's question in this sense is quite logical, because if it were really the other way round - the will of a person would be judged by another conscience as the bearer of judgement - then people would judge each other, not God, because their consciences would have the power to judge others. But in reality, only God can judge in the full sense.

1 Corinthians X, 31 — ‘εἰς δόξαν θεοῦ’ - ‘eis doxan theou’ - ‘into the glory of God; for the glory of God’. The preposition ‘eis’ emphasises the movement of the people themselves and the purpose of their actions, i.e. what they should result in.

1 Corinthians XI, 8 — ‘ἐκ γυναικός’ - ‘ek gynaikos’ - ‘from the woman’. ‘ἐξ ἀνδρός’ - ‘ex andros’ - ‘from the man’. The preposition ‘ek’ (‘ex’ before the following vowel) indicates origination.

1 Corinthians XI, 9 — ‘διὰ τὴν γυναῖκα’ - ‘dia ten gynaika’ - ‘with regard to the woman’. ‘διὰ τὸν ἄνδρα’ - ‘dia ton andra’ - ‘with regard to the man’. For a detailed explanation, see the first link below.

1 Corinthians XI, 10 — ‘διὰ τοὺς ἀγγέλους’ - ‘dia tous angelous’ - ‘with regard to the angels’.

1 Corinthians XI, 11 — ‘γυνὴ χωρὶς ἀνδρὸς’ - ‘gyne khoris andros’ - ‘woman apart from man; woman without man’. ‘ἀνὴρ χωρὶς γυναικὸς’ - ‘aner khoris gynaikos’ - ‘man apart from woman; man without woman’. ‘ἐν κυρίῳ’ - ‘en kyrio’ - ‘in the Lord’. Rather, in both cases, the first translation is preferable because God did not intend for the sexes to be separate and apart. The only reason for possible apartness could be to fight against temptation or sin.

1 Corinthians XI, 12 — ‘ἡ γυνὴ ἐκ τοῦ ἀνδρός’ - ‘e gyne ek tou andros’ - ‘woman from man’. See above. ‘ἀνὴρ διὰ τῆς γυναικός’ - ‘aner dia tes gynaikos’ - ‘man through woman’. Here, unlike the earlier examples, the genitive case is used, indicating the way in which man came to be - born by woman. Woman is designed by God with regard to man, and men are born by women. A kind of balance. ‘ἐκ τοῦ θεοῦ’ - ‘ek tou theou’ - ‘from God’. Here, the preposition ‘ek’ indicates the deep origin, in the deepest manifestations of nature and hypostasis, of the person. 1 Corinthians XI, 13 — ‘ἐν ὑμῖν αὐτοῖς’ - ‘en ymin autois’ - ‘in yourselves’.

1 Corinthians XI, 16 — ‘ἡμεῖς’ - ‘emeis’ - ‘we’.

1 Corinthians XI, 17 — ‘εἰς τὸ κρεῖσσον’ - ‘eis to kreisson’ - ‘for stronger, better’. ‘εἰς τὸ ἧσσον’ - ‘eis to esson’ - ‘for the weaker, worse’. The preposition ‘eis’ here indicates the purpose of the meeting and its outcome.

1 Corinthians XI, 18, 19 — ‘ἐν ἐκκλησίᾳ’ - ‘en ekklesia’ - ‘in the Church’. ‘ἐν ὑμῖν’ - ‘en ymin’ - ‘in you’.

1 Corinthians XI, 21 — ‘ἐν τῷ φαγεῖν’ - ‘en to phagein’ - ‘at meals’.

1 Corinthians XI, 22 — ‘εἰς τὸ ἐσθίειν’ - ‘eis to esthiein’ - ‘to eat in’. ‘ἐν τούτῳ’ - ‘en touto’ - ‘in this; for this’.

(Matthew XVI, 24-28; Matthew XVII, 10-18 )
Matthew XVI, 27 — ‘ἐν τῇ δόξῃ τοῦ πατρὸς’ - ‘en te doxe tou patros’ - ‘in the glory of the Father’.

Matthew XVI, 28 — ‘ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ αὐτοῦ’ - ‘en te basileia autou’ - ‘in His Kingdom’.

Matthew XVII, 11 — ‘ἀποκαταστήσει’ - ‘apokatastesei’ - ‘will restore’. This implies that John the Baptist will restore people's attention, awaken expectations, encourage repentance, and so on, which was characteristic for the beginning of people's conversion, for the beginning of their deep relationship with God.

Matthew XVII, 12 — ‘ἐν αὐτῷ’ - ‘en auto’ - ‘with him’. Here the preposition ‘en’ indicates what happened to John. ‘ὑπ’ αὐτῶν' - hyp auton - from them. The preposition ‘hypo’ here emphasises the depth of the Saviour's humility.

Matthew XVII, 15 — ‘εἰς τὸ πῦρ’ - ‘eis to pyr’ - ‘into the fire’. ‘εἰς τὸ ὕδωρ’ - ‘eis to ydor’ - ‘into the water’.

Matthew XVII, 18 — ‘ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ' - ap autou - out of him. The preposition ‘apo’ here indicates the complete, total departure of the evil one from a person. ‘ἀπὸ τῆς ὥρας’ - ‘ato tes oras’ - ‘since then; since time’. This is a common expression.
