🇬🇧 Glory be to Jesus Christ! 🌞

Dedicated to Emma Kok.

To the Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian:
(1 John IV, 12-19)

1 John IV, 12, 13, 16 – ‘ημιν’ – ‘emin’ – (to) ‘us’ ((in) us). ‘τετελειωμενη’ – ‘teteleiomene’ – ‘became mature, perfect, complete’.

1 John IV, 14, 16, 17, 19 – ‘ημεις’ – ‘emeis’ – ‘we’.

1 John IV, 17, 18 – ‘τετελειωται’ – ‘teteleiotai’ – ‘became perfect, mature, complete, accomplished’ (i.e., achieved the purpose of its existence, became what God intended). ‘ημων’ – ‘emon’ – ‘us’. ‘ημερα’ - ‘emera’ – ‘day’.

1 John IV, 19 – ‘ημας’ – ‘emas’ – ‘us’.

No one has seen God, meaning the Father, not in manifestations, but similarly to how the Son of God and the Holy Spirit see.

The Apostle John the Theologian is called the Apostle of Love. And today’s reading is devoted mainly to the theme of love. The apostle clarifies how much love influences the relationship with God, whether a person is with God.

John also testifies that God was the First One to show love to us, just as Paul and the other apostles say.

God is love – like other similar statements in John’s Gospel – must be understood to mean that God manifests Himself as true, perfect and complete love, that God Himself lives in love and wants other creatures to freely join in. It is impossible to truly unite with God without love. See a more detailed explanation here:

There is a good essay on fear and love here:

(John XIX, 25-27; XXI, 24-25)

John XXI, 25 – ‘οιμαι’ – ‘oimai’ – (I) think.

The readings where the Apostle John the Theologian stands with the Mother of God beside the Crucified Saviour, and Christ actually adopts John to the Mother of God (which is a great honour), as well as the fact that it was John the Theologian who wrote the fourth Gospel, also show that the actions of God are inexhaustible in depth. Therefore, it is wrong to think that everything has been written and said in theology.

Glory be to Thee, our God, glory be to Thee!
