it is written that the use of prepositions is important for the correct understanding of important and actual issues, in particular the issue of power, I am writing commentaries on the use of these prepositions. As a piece of advice on how to read the text, you can read the verse in translation and/or in the original (if you have the opportunity), and then the commentary on prepositions here. Next, you need to understand which part of the verse the commentary refers to, and consider what it affirms — or less often, denies — that is essential to understanding. This thoughtful reading helps to deepen understanding and protects against the mistakes mentioned above.

Romans XV, 17 — 'ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ' - 'en CHristo Iesou' - in Jesus Christ. Here it is meant that Paul's boast is a boast ultimately in unity with Christ.

Romans XV, 18 — 'εἰς ὑπακοὴν' - 'eis hypakoen' - to obedience; unto obedience; for obedience. 'ἐθνῶν' - 'ethnon' - of Gentiles; of nations; of ethnoses. The apostle meant, most likely, precisely the first meaning, but the Holy Spirit through Paul testifies about all three meanings as well. See also yesterday's reading and commentaries at the link:

Romans XV, 19 — 'ἐν δυνάμει' - 'en dynamei' - in power; with power. See above. 'ἀπὸ Ἱερουσαλὴμ' - 'apo ierousalem' - from Jerusalem. The preposition 'apo' emphasises that Paul left Jerusalem and went further.

Verses 20-21 have important significance for the question of possible dispute with Peter. In my opinion, they testify to the absence of such in this epistle (Paul did not attempt to attract Peter's disciples to his side). See in more detail at the link:

Romans XV, 23 — 'ἐν τοῖς κλίμασι τούτοις' - 'en tois klimasi toutois' - in these countries (territories). Where. 'ἀπὸ πολλῶν ἐτῶν' - 'apo pollon eton' - from many years, that is for a long time. The preposition 'apo' emphasises that this desire of Paul arose after certain important changes, particularly after he became an apostle.

Romans XV, 24 — 'εἰς τὴν Σπανίαν' - 'eis ten Spanian' - to Spain. Where to. 'ἀπὸ μέρους' - 'apo merous' - in part. A common expression.

Romans XV, 25 — 'εἰς Ἱερουσαλὴμ' - 'eis Hierousalem' - to Jerusalem. Where to.

Romans XV, 26 — 'εἰς τοὺς πτωχοὺς τῶν ἁγίων τῶν ἐν Ἱερουσαλήμ' - 'eis tous ptokhous ton hagion ton en Hierousalem' - for the poor saints who are in Jerusalem. Here the preposition 'eis' indicates the purpose of the action, for the sake of what the donations.

Romans XV, 27 — 'ἔθνη' - 'ethne' - Gentiles; nations; ethnoses. Here it concerns precisely Gentiles, former Gentiles, people of various nations. 'ἐν τοῖς σαρκικοῖς λειτουργῆσαι αὐτοῖς' - 'en tois sarkikois leitourgesai autois' - in fleshly (matters) to serve them together.

Romans XV, 28 — 'εἰς Σπανίαν' - 'eis Spanian' - to Spain. Where to.

Romans XV, 29 — 'ἐν πληρώματι' - 'en pleromati' - in fullness. Here the instrumental case is not appropriate, therefore precisely (being) in fullness.

(Matthew XII, 46-XIII, 3)
Matthew XII, 50 — 'τὸ θέλημα τοῦ πατρός μου τοῦ ἐν οὐρανοῖς' - 'to thelema tou patros mou tou en ouranois' - the will of My Father Who is in heavens. Where. Here precisely that which the Father desires.

Matthew XIII, 1 — 'Ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ' - 'en te hemera ekeine' - on that day; that day. That is, during one day with the previous events. 'ἐκ τῆς οἰκίας' - 'ek tes oikias' - from the house. From where. 'παρὰ τὴν θάλασσαν' - 'para ten thalassan' - to the proximity with the sea. The preposition 'para' is here with the accusative and indicates here that Christ approached the seashore.

Matthew XIII, 2 — 'εἰς πλοῖον' - 'eis ploion' - into a boat (to a boat). Where to.

Matthew XIII, 3 — 'ἐν παραβολαῖς' - 'en parabolais' - in parables; with parables. Both translation variants are correct.

It is a great God's gift to be a kinsman to Jesus, or to know Him closely, as He Himself says: Blessed are you who see — that which prophets, righteous ones and kings wanted to see, but did not see. Nevertheless, the most important, the main thing — is the fulfillment of God's will. For this latter connects better with Christ than the presence of bodily ties.
