it is written that the use of prepositions is important for the correct understanding of important and actual issues, in particular the issue of power, I am writing commentaries on the use of these prepositions. As a piece of advice on how to read the text, you can read the verse in translation and/or in the original (if you have the opportunity), and then the commentary on prepositions here. Next, you need to understand which part of the verse the commentary refers to, and consider what it affirms — or less often, denies — that is essential to understanding. This thoughtful reading helps to deepen understanding and protects against the mistakes mentioned above.

(2 Thessalonians II, 1-12)
2 Thessalonians II, 2 — ‘εἰς τὸ μὴ ταχέως σαλευθῆναι ὑμᾶς ἀπὸ τοῦ νοὸς’ - ‘eis to me takheos saleuthenai hymas apo tou noos’ - ‘so that you are not quickly shaken from the mind (way of thinking; worldview)’. The preposition ‘eis’ here indicates the purpose of the action, and the preposition ‘apo’ emphasises a certain degree of ‘leaving' the mind (perhaps madness?) by those who think of the Kingdom of God on earth before the Second Coming.

2 Thessalonians II, 4 — ‘εἰς τὸν ναὸν τοῦ θεοῦ’ - ‘eis ton naon tou theou’ - ‘into the temple of God; into the sanctuary of God’. That is, ‘where to?', not just 'where?'. The Gospels almost always use a different word for the Jerusalem temple.

2 Thessalonians II, 6 — ‘εἰς τὸ ἀποκαλυφθῆναι αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ αὐτοῦ καιρῷ’ - ‘eis to apokalyphthenai auton en to autou kairo’ - ‘him to be revealed (to be revelated; the word is cognate with the word ‘revelation’) in his time’. The preposition ‘eis’ indicates the purpose of the action.

2 Thessalonians II, 7 — ‘ἐκ μέσου’ - ‘ek mesou’ - ‘from within’. A common expression.

2 Thessalonians II, 9 — ‘ἐν πάσῃ δυνάμει καὶ σημείοις καὶ τέρασιν ψεύδους’ - ‘en pase dynamei kai semeiois kai terasin pseudous’ - ‘in all kinds of power, and signs, and pseudo-wonders; with all kinds of power, signs and wonders that are false'. Both translations are possible and complementary.

2 Thessalonians II, 10 — ‘ἐν πάσῃ ἀπάτῃ ἀδικίας’ - ‘en pase apate adikias’ - ‘in all deceit of unrighteousness; with all the deceit of unrighteousness’. Both translations are possible. ‘εἰς τὸ σωθῆναι’ - ‘eis to sothenai’ - ‘to be saved’. The preposition ‘eis’ here indicates the purpose of the action.

(Mark VIII, 30-34)
Mark VIII, 31 — ‘ὑπὸ τῶν πρεσβυτέρων’ - ‘hypo ton presbyteron’ - ‘under the elders; through the elders’. The preposition ‘hypo’ here is with the genitive case, and here it indicates that the verbs are passive.
