it is written that the use of prepositions is important for the correct understanding of important and actual issues, in particular the issue of power, I am writing commentaries on the use of these prepositions. As a piece of advice on how to read the text, you can read the verse in translation and/or in the original (if you have the opportunity), and then the commentary on prepositions here. Next, you need to understand which part of the verse the commentary refers to, and consider what it affirms — or less often, denies — that is essential to understanding. This thoughtful reading helps to deepen understanding and protects against the mistakes mentioned above.

(Colossians I, 24-29)
Colossians I, 24 — ‘ἐν τοῖς παθήμασιν’ - ‘en tois pathemasin’ - ‘in the sufferings’. ‘ἐν τῇ σαρκί’ - ‘en te sarki’ - ‘in the body’.

Colossians I, 25 — ‘εἰς ὑμᾶς’ - ‘eis hymas’ - ‘in you; for you’. Both translations are possible.

Colossians I, 26 — ‘ἀπὸ τῶν αἰώνων καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν γενεῶν’ - ‘apo ton aionon kai apo ton geneon’ - ‘from ages and from generations’. The preposition ‘apo’ in both cases emphasises the fact that it was completely hidden.

Colossians I, 27 — ‘ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν’ - ‘en tois ethnesin’ - ‘among the nations; among the Gentiles’. ‘ἐν ὑμῖν’ - ‘en hymin’ - ‘’in you‘’.

Colossians I, 28 — ‘ἐν Χριστῷ’ - ‘en CHristo’ - ‘in Christ; by Christ’. The first option is more likely, since it better conveys the role of preachers as ministers of God.

Colossians I, 29 — ‘ἐν ἐμοὶ ἐν δυνάμει’ - ‘en emoi en dynamei’ - ‘in me in strength’.

(Luke XVI, 1-9)
Luke XVI, 3 — ‘ἐν ἑαυτῷ’ - ‘en heauto’ - ‘in himself’. ‘ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ' - ap emou - from me. The preposition ‘apo’ in its form before the following vowel indicates the objectivity of the reporting.

Luke XVI, 4 — ‘ἐκ τῆς οἰκονομίας’ - ‘ek tes oikonomias’ - ‘from the administration’. The preposition ‘ek’ indicates from where the steward will be removed. ‘εἰς τοὺς οἴκους’ - ‘eis tous oikous’ - ‘into the houses’.

Luke XVI, 8 — ‘εἰς τὴν γενεὰν’ - ‘eis ten genean’ - ‘into the lineage; into the generation; for the lineage; for the generation’. All translations are possible. The implication is that the ‘sons of this world’ are considered to be more inventive among their environment.

Luke XVI, 9 — ‘ἐκ τοῦ μαμωνᾶ τῆς ἀδικίας’ - ‘ek tou mamona tes adikias’ - ‘from the wealth of unrighteousness’. The preposition ‘ek’ indicates from where what is received should lead to friendship. The parable can only be properly understood in its entirety, see the link below. ‘εἰς τὰς αἰωνίους σκηνάς’ - ‘eis tas aionious skenas’ - ‘into eternal dwellings’.
