it is written that the use of prepositions is important for the correct understanding of important and actual issues, in particular the issue of power, I am writing commentaries on the use of these prepositions. As a piece of advice on how to read the text, you can read the verse in translation and/or in the original (if you have the opportunity), and then the commentary on prepositions here. Next, you need to understand which part of the verse the commentary refers to, and consider what it affirms — or less often, denies — that is essential to understanding. This thoughtful reading helps to deepen understanding and protects against the mistakes mentioned above.

(1 Corinthians X, 23-28 )

(Matthew XXIV, 34-44)
Matthew XXIV, 38 — ‘ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις’ - ‘en tais hemerais’ - ‘in those days’. ‘εἰς τὴν κιβωτόν’ - ‘eis ten kiboton’ - ‘into the ark’.

Matthew XXIV, 40 — ‘ἐν τῷ ἀγρῷ’ - ‘en to agro’ - ‘in the field’.

Matthew XXIV, 41 — ‘ἐν τῷ μύλῳ’ - ‘en to mylo’ - ‘with millstones’.

To Saints Athanasius the Great and Cyril of Alexandria:
(Hebrews XIII, 7-16; Matthew V, 14-19)

Matthew V, 15 — ‘ὑπὸ τὸν μόδιον’ - ‘hypo ton modion’ - ‘under the basket (under a certain thing used for measurements of dry things)’. The preposition ‘hypo’ is here with the accusative. ‘ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ’ - ‘en te oikia’ - ‘in the house’.

Matthew V, 16 — ‘ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς’ - ‘en tois ouranois’ - ‘in the heavens’.

Matthew V, 18 — ‘ἀπὸ τοῦ νόμου’ - ‘apo tou nomou’ - ‘from the Law’. The preposition ‘apo’ indicates that it is a matter of complete disappearance, levelling, or rather, since it is denied here, it is said that they will not disappear. In other words, there is nothing unimportant in the Law, everything has meaning and significance, even genders and grammar.

Matthew V, 19 — ‘ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τῶν οὐρανῶν’ - ‘en te basileia ton ouranon’ - ‘in the Kingdom of the Heavens (Heavenly Kingdom)’.
