it is written that the use of prepositions is important for the correct understanding of important and actual issues, in particular the issue of power, I am writing commentaries on the use of these prepositions. As a piece of advice on how to read the text, you can read the verse in translation and/or in the original (if you have the opportunity), and then the commentary on prepositions here. Next, you need to understand which part of the verse the commentary refers to, and consider what it affirms — or less often, denies — that is essential to understanding. This thoughtful reading helps to deepen understanding and protects against the mistakes mentioned above.

(2 Thessalonians III, 6-18 )
2 Thessalonians III, 6 — ‘ἐν ὀνόματι τοῦ κυρίου’ - ‘en onomati tou kyriou’ - ‘in the name of the Lord; with the name of the Lord’. Both translations are possible and complement each other. ‘ἀπὸ παντὸς ἀδελφοῦ’ - ‘apo pantos adelphou’ - ‘from every brother; every brother’. The preposition ‘apo’ indicates a cessation of communication (ex-communication). ‘παρ’ ἡμῶν' - par hemon - from beside us. The preposition ‘para’ is used here in the form before the next vowel and together with the genitive case. The same construction is used when referring to the Holy Spirit's proceeding from the Father, also in relation to the human nature of Jesus Christ. Here it indicates that the apostles are conveying what they say through the work of the Holy Spirit.

2 Thessalonians III, 7, 11 — ‘ἐν ὑμῖν’ - ‘en hymin’ - ‘in you’.

2 Thessalonians III, 8 — ‘παρά τινος’ - ‘para tinos’ - ‘from someone’. The preposition ‘para’ is used here together with the genitive case. A similar construction is used when referring to the Holy Spirit's proceeding from the Father, also in relation to the human nature of Jesus Christ. Here it indicates the essentiality of such a gift from someone, i.e. there is a significant difference between voluntary and necessary labour, the former can, like the apostles' one, be caused by the action of the Holy Spirit who encouraged it. ‘ἐν κόπῳ καὶ μόχθῳ’ - ‘en kopo kai mokhtho’ - ‘in troubles and weariness’.

2 Thessalonians III, 9 — ‘εἰς τὸ μιμεῖσθαι’ - ‘eis to mimeisthai’ - ‘to imitate’. The preposition ‘eis’ indicates the purpose of the action.

2 Thessalonians III, 12 — ἐν κυρίῳ - ‘en kyrio’ - ‘in the Lord; with the Lord’. Both translations are possible.

2 Thessalonians III, 16 — ‘ἐν παντὶ τρόπῳ’ - ‘en panti tropo’ - ‘in every way (that is actually suitable for this)’.

2 Thessalonians III, 17 — ‘ἐν πάσῃ ἐπιστολῇ’ - ‘en pase epistole’ - ‘in every letter’.

(Mark IX, 33-41)
Mark IX, 33, 34 — ‘εἰς Καφαρναούμ’ - ‘eis Kapharnaoum’ - ‘in Capernaum’. ‘ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ’ - ‘en te oikia’ - ‘in the house’. ‘ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ’ - ‘en te hodo’ - ‘on the way; on the road’.

Mark IX, 36 — ‘ἐν μέσῳ’ - ‘en meso’ - ‘within; in the middle; among’. A common expression.

Mark IX, 38, 41 — ‘ἐν (τῷ) ὀνόματί’ - ‘en (to) onomati’ - ‘in the name; into the name; with the name’. All three translations are possible and can complement each other here. For more information, please refer to the following links:
