it is written that the use of prepositions has important significance for the correct understanding of important and topical questions, particularly the question of power, I am writing comments regarding the use of precisely these prepositions. As advice regarding reading what is written — one can read the verse in translation or/and original (whoever has such possibility), and then the corresponding comment regarding prepositions here. Then it is necessary to understand which part of the verse the comment concerns, and also to consider what essential for understanding it affirms — or more rarely — denies. Such thoughtful reading helps to deepen understanding and protects from the mentioned mistakes.

Liturgy:
(1 Thessalonians IV, 1-12)
1 Thessalonians IV, 1 — 'ἐν κυρίῳ Ἰησοῦ' - 'en kyrio Iesou' - in the Lord Jesus. In Whom. 'παρ' ἡμῶν' - 'par hemon' - from beside us. Here the preposition 'para' in its form before the following 'he' is with the genitive case, a similar construction is also used regarding the procession of the Holy Spirit from the Father and the human nature of Jesus Christ. Here it indicates that through the apostles the Holy Spirit acts.

1 Thessalonians IV, 3 — 'ἀπὸ τῆς πορνείας' - 'apo tes porneias' - from fornication. The preposition 'apo' here indicates that it is necessary to completely, fully avoid fornication.

1 Thessalonians IV, 4 — 'ἐν ἁγιασμῷ καὶ τιμῇ' - 'en hagiasmo kai time' - in holiness and honour.

1 Thessalonians IV, 5 — 'ἐν πάθει ἐπιθυμίας' - 'en pathei epithymias' - in passion of lust. The construction indicates that passion and lust are closely interrelated.

1 Thessalonians IV, 6 — 'ἐν τῷ πράγματι' - 'en to pragmati' - in the matter; with the matter. Both variants of translation are possible, the first indicates that the wrong can be in the matter, and the second — that the matter itself can be the wrong.

1 Thessalonians IV, 7 — 'ἐν ἁγιασμῷ' - 'en hagiasmo' - in sanctification. That is the calling is directed towards sanctification, also sanctification contributes to the calling.

1 Thessalonians IV, 8 — 'εἰς ὑμᾶς' - 'eis hymas' - into us; to us. Both variants of translation are possible; the first indicates that the manifestation of the Holy Spirit was directed towards the faithful, the faithful are the place of action and manifestation of the Holy Spirit, and the second — that the Holy Spirit is given to the faithful themselves.

1 Thessalonians IV, 9 — 'εἰς τὸ ἀγαπᾶν ἀλλήλους' - 'eis to agapan allelous' - so that to love one another; for loving one another. The preposition 'eis' indicates here the purpose of the action.

1 Thessalonians IV, 10 — 'εἰς πάντας τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς ἐν ὅλῃ τῇ Μακεδονίᾳ' - 'eis pantas tous adelphous en hole te Makedonia' - for all the brethren in all Macedonia.

The Apostle Paul teaches to keep what was handed down from the apostles.

Also he especially warns against fornication (vessels — our bodies are figuratively named thus), against violence and wrong, calls to love, and about working diligently.

The Lord is the avenger — that is, the Lord is the Judge. And whoever rejects God's will, God's commandments and commands, then rejects not human teaching, but God's will, which will have great significance at God's judgement.

(Luke XI, 42-46)
Luke XI, 43 — 'ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς' - 'en tois synagogais' - in the synagogues. 'ἐν ταῖς ἀγοραῖς' - 'en tais agorais' - in the marketplaces. Marketplaces at that time were places of meetings and communication. Where. See more about that at the link and cited there by others:
